Red will be an illtuned Garage vehicle that either get transformed into an exo-caged full body truck or a flat bed style truggy. The platform brings a good bit of potential to the table. This one is coming with a bunch of modifications. Some will stay, some will go-

Wheels and tires are Super Swamper TSL's (36x12.50") on 15x8" aluminum wheels. 5.29 gears and a Supra LSD up front; welded rear setup. Front and rear bumpers will be "massaged".. and the cheap winch will stay on until a Superwinch is needed.

Red, isn't about being pretty... it isn't about looking clean, ever. ;) Shouldn't be too hard to keep that idea going..

In short. Red is here so that 'Blue' doesn't have to be destroyed and beat on. (too much)

*Red is also nick named Red because my good friend "Red" will be wheeling it from time to time.
*Red is also known as/spelled Redd. For my man Redd Foxx. "You big dummy!"

Thanks, Lumpy! Figured we'd beat on this one while I do the suspension, brakes and gears/lockers in Blue.

fixed the drag link today and re-connected the knock sensor.. (not sure why it was unplugged.. but, easy fix)
reconnected the tail pipe and cut off the excess pipe. Doesn't sound as ungodly loud as it did.. but it's still makes some noise.

Red went on it's maiden voyage yesterday at HVR. Did pretty well except the power steering started leaking and became stupid difficult to enjoy it any further.

up next, new steering system & a full tune up.

looking forward to next time out.

ripped the fenders off.. going to mock up some exo ideas and bang out the dents on the fenders.

steering is wack.. will just upgrade to hi-steer after talking to some folks over at the marlincrawler board.

installed a Downey intake over the last few days.. just for shits and giggles.

bad day for Red yesterday.. First the battery went completely south which I was expecting.. Then I couldn't get it into low range for the life of me..

With the battery kaput I went down to Auto Zone to get a cheap battery.. I toss an old (so I thought) Duralast on the counter I had for a core and asked for a cheap new battery.. The dude looked at me, then the battery, then back at me..

"Did you buy this new?"

Turns out it was still under warranty. I didn't even think about it. Replaced for free so this was a good point of the story. I ALMOST took this battery in for a core replacement one other time too. Lucky on that one.

:band:

Fast forward to this AM. Went to figure out why it wouldn't go into 4 low. All 6 bolts were loose for the t/c.. d'oh! They were loose enough that when I pulled the lever back the t/c moved slightly (I could finally see this after removing the dust cover). Course I did this in a pair of shorts and flip flops.. cause I didn't really plan on fixing it.

Fixed that and STILL wouldn't go in. OK, enough...

BFH to the rescue!!

The truck now shifts more smoothly than before the hammer shot..

Ah, Toyota.. What won't fix itself can be cured with a BFH.

Oh, and the grill has been removed. One step closer to me actually cutting the roof off and chopping up the cab.

and it ended up not being the right part. Rock Auto for the loss.

Autozone is supposed to have one tomorrow for me. Hopefully it's the right one as my arms are getting tired of no PS.
